Martin's Camping Ground, in Joliet, IL, is the are's premier campground serving Chicago, Minooka, New Lenox, Lockport, Homer Glen and surrounding areas since 2017. We stayed here for 3 nights while we attended an event nearby. First of all, let’s set some realistic expectations. This is not a KOA or state park campground. There is no pool or playground and you can’t have a campfire. Most of the other campers were people that had traveled for a job and were staying for several months but there were a handful of people just staying for a night or 2 like us as well. That being said, you can’t beat the location if you want to camp and go into downtown Chicago or some of the nearby suburbs. The grounds are well maintained and everyone we encountered was friendly. We felt safe walking the dogs around the campground at night. There was plenty of green space for them to sniff and run around in as well. Brenda, the office manager was super friendly and helpful. She texted in advance of our stay just to confirm and helped put us in a site that worked best for us. We didn’t use the bathrooms except at the very end when we were leaving but they were clean and nicely maintained. The women’s bathroom requires a code to enter which is a nice security feature. You are right next to the highway so there is road noise but we have stayed at several KOAs that are just as loud. Next time we travel to Chicago with the camper we will definitely stay here again!

Just want to give kudos to Brenda, the property manager. She is truly an asset and a natural problem solver. Quick story wife and I wanted to do some tent camping not realizing that' this is a RV park. She gave usl space between two RVs and we wasn't feeling that spot at all. We went and spoke with her she gave us a little piece of real estate off to the side. We were a little bit more secluded not sandwiched in. We had a great view of the stars and room to set up everything we needed to cook and to enjoy our trip. We realize that she didn't have to do that. We really appreciate her so much. We had such a great stay! I really am so confused by these other reviews. Me & my girlfriend spent the weekend here as a break from our usual busy lives. The bathrooms were clean, I saw an employee cleaning and mopping the bathrooms then doing propane. The office lady manages the office, cleans the bathrooms and does propane! Greeted us multiple times. We had such an easy check in and check out and everyone was very friendly as well! The entire property was clean and quiet at night, which is important to us. The only critique I would give would be that the park has so much more potential to be a great hangout spot! If we find our way back to Martins Camping Ground we will 10000% stay here again.

This was our second year at Martins Camping Ground and we had an amazing time. Site was so clean, washrooms and showers well maintained and always clean during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. I must admit I was a little nervous after reading a few reviews about Mrs.Brenda, but she’s such a funny gal.
