"We stayed here for 3 nights while we attended an event nearby. First of all, let’s set some realistic expectations. This is not a KOA or state park campground. There is no pool or playground and you can’t have a campfire. Most of the other campers were people that had traveled for a job and were staying for several months but there were a handful of people just staying for a night or 2 like us as well. That being said, you can’t beat the location if you want to camp and go into downtown Chicago or some of the nearby suburbs. The grounds are well maintained and everyone we encountered was friendly. We felt safe walking the dogs around the campground at night. There was plenty of green space for them to sniff and run around in as well. Brenda, the office manager was super friendly and helpful. She texted in advance of our stay just to confirm and helped put us in a site that worked best for us. We didn’t use the bathrooms except at the very end when we were leaving but they were clean and nicely maintained. The women’s bathroom requires a code to enter which is a nice security feature. You are right next to the highway so there is road noise but we have stayed at several KOAs that are just as loud. Next time we travel to Chicago with the camper we will definitely stay here again!"
